For this edition of Offsight Leaders & Innovators, we’re sitting down with
Ben Bruns, Owner of RE|Structure Consulting and a longtime leader at the intersection of construction, modularization, and offsite delivery. Ben brings decades of hands-on experience from some of the industry’s most respected contractors, including
Boldt, where he held senior leadership roles and helped shape large-scale project delivery strategies. Most notably, Ben served as Vice President of Modular at
BILDT and Boldt, where he led modular and prefab initiatives focused on scaling repeatable building systems, improving certainty, and bridging the gap between traditional construction and manufacturing-driven delivery.
In this Q&A, Ben joins
Offsight CEO
Vikas Murali to discuss what it really takes for owners, general contractors, and specialty contractors to go all in on prefab, from trust and procurement to ROI, cash flow, and the role of technology in enabling long-term offsite success.
V: You spoke about the need for owners to go “all in” on prefab. What is preventing owners from giving factories multi-project pipelines to help drive long-term growth in offsite construction?
B: There are several challenges for owners considering prefabrication. Most often, the real limitation within owner organizations is the politics of purchasing or the perceived need to validate a competitive procurement process when introducing prefabrication.
