The recently completed Plaza West Tower at BJC Healthcare in St. Louis is a 16-story, 660,000-square-foot expansion featuring 224 private inpatient rooms and 56 private ICU rooms, along with advanced imaging, surgical prep, recovery facilities, and modern clinical spaces. What makes the project especially significant from a construction and operations perspective is the extensive use of prefabricated bathroom pods, fully finished offsite with plumbing, electrical, tile, fixtures, and finishes before being craned into place. This prefab strategy significantly reduced onsite construction congestion, accelerated installation, and improved quality control compared to traditional field-built methods.
